A man who was bitten by a pit bull terrier and had to take two months off work has been awarded compensation.
The man was on holiday at a caravan park with his family when the incident happened. He tried to intervene when his own dog was attacked by the pit bull. He was able to separate the two animals but was bitten.
A bone in his finger was broken and he had to take antibiotics for an infection. He was unable to carry out his work as a bricklayer for two months.
He brought an action against the owners of the pit bull claiming that they had failed to control the animal in a public place.
He was awarded £5,877 compensation for his pain, suffering and loss of earnings.
